Before a food critic has taken a bite, Emma Orlow could tell you Muji is opening a food market in Chelsea, where to find plum-coated sesame seeds, the revolving restaurant in Times Square is reopening, and the new owner of Keens Steakhouse is in bed with Trump.

“When I tell people I work at Eater as a restaurant reporter, a lot of people assume that I'm a food critic. Those are very separate jobs, even though they may not seem that way,” Emma told me way back in November. I came across her after reading her piece about the world of erotic cookbooks, but once you know her name, you start seeing it everywhere. She’s written pieces about apple picking on the BQE, dollhouse miniatures, artist residency gurus, and restaurant sign-makers. We talk her post at Eater, the latest menu trends, and where to dine on a date.
